Tunisia’s Social Economy Paves Its Way Toward African Markets

Originally published in Managers magazine (July–August 2025), in the “How to Make Money / Entrepreneurship” section

In its latest issue, Managers magazine featured an article on the rise of Tunisia’s social economy at the African level, highlighting the concrete efforts of several key players committed to promoting local products and solidarity-based entrepreneurship.

The article sheds light on promising initiatives such as those by the Nefzawa Group, which recently stood out at two major economic events on the continent:

  • The GITS in Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire)
  • The Tunisia Food & Handcrafts Expo in Nairobi (Kenya), an event organized by the Jeun’ESS project of the International Labour Organization (ILO)

At these exhibitions, the Nefzawa Group’s space attracted significant interest thanks to its unique approach to promoting local products, crafts, and traditional know-how. Driven by engaged women and youth, the group demonstrated that the social and solidarity economy can fully integrate into export dynamics and regional development.

We express our sincere gratitude to the Jeun’ESS project and the ILO, whose support made this participation possible, providing an excellent showcase for producers from southern Tunisia on the African stage.

We invite our readers to discover the full article in the latest issue of Managers magazine, now available at newsstands.
